151d6434edThomas Erkert is the principal initiator of HITA and co-founder. He is the first chairman of the board and coordinator of all  HITA projects. Thomas studied public affairs at the University of Konstanz and public and international affairs at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. Afterwards he completed a Master of Sciences and a Master of Business Administration in health information managementa the Johner Institut of IT in Health Care in Konstanz, Germany. Thomas started his professional career as a project manager and consultant in the domain of information and communications technology (ICT). He initiated and coordinated in this position several national and international research projects in the field of health care and telemedicine. In 2000 Thomas took over positions in Business Development. As an international business development manager in the telecommunication sector he worked mainly in Asia, the Gulf States and Africa. Since 2007 Thomas is back in his original field of interest. Since then he is a freelance eHealth architect working for sevral contracting bodies. He is an experienced moderator and lecturer, who has worked for a wide range of institutions, including universities, non-profit organisations, consumers’ associations and social communities in Germany and abroad. Thomas is the author of several articles and other publications, primarily on the subjects of telemedicine and the use of ICT in the healthcare sector.

Daniel SchleßmannDaniel Schleßmann is part of the HITA head of council. He studied oeconomics and is actually in progress with another mastership in IT in health care at the Johner-Institution. Since some years he works as an IT-teacher in a diabetes hospital in Bad Mergentheim. He started working as a voluntary and as well in the position of head of council for the “Evangelische Bezirksjugend Wertheim”. There he got in contact with the different partner projects of that part of the church work in a lot of different countries. In 2014 he went to a congress of the YPG ( youth organisation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the partner region Volta in Ghana. There he made a lot of contacts and friends, as well he work on different projetct and helped building up sturcutres to give people access and possibilities to learn and develope. He works especially with youth, in summer 2015 he organized a interessting and successful convention festival for about three weeks for youth from Germany and from Ghana.

Günther Michels : Experte

Günther Michels is responsible for the press and public relation work for HITA e. V. . He does the administrational work for the website, the social media network and other platforms which are corresponding with HITA e.V. . Since April 2014 Günther is organizing our new medium HITA-Radio and the documentation of several projects. Günther finished a diploma degree in social science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and he studied political science, philosophy and psychoanalysis involved in a Magister study degree. He´s writing for several newspapers, and printmedias, as well onlinemagazines and blogs, he works at a radio station and is just our journalist. Since November 2015 Günther is member of the Head of Council for the department of press relations and media solutions.

gareis_karstenKarsten Gareis is a member of the HITA Executive Board and one of our senior project manager and researcher. He studied human geography, economics and developmental sociology at Bonn University, where he gained a diploma in 1996. Karsten has extensive experience in managing large multinational project consortia, mainly in the context of EU-funded research projects and service contract studies. He has coordinated research on regional information society strategies, on indicators of ICT-related progress at regional and national level, user orientation in eLearning, and ICT for social inclusion. Recent work has included policy advice on ICT for addressing ageing-related challenges; surveys of global virtual collaboration; and analysis of the worldwide social impacts of ICTs. Between 2010 and 2013, Karsten has provided consultancy to the country of Qatar as part of an initiative for using ICTs for supporting population groups at risk of social exclusion. With HITA, he has conducted on-site research during extended field trips within Ghana in 2016 and 2017. Karsten has authored or co-authored numerous articles and handbooks, including guidelines for replication of ICT-based innovations

Daniel Gerlach_ProfilDaniel Gerlach is a member of the HITA Executive Board. He has been working in the healthcare sector for more than ten years and is currently the manager responsible for a set of IT systems within an international healthcare group. The engineer with a focus on medical technology started his career as a developer of medical devices. As a usability consultant, Daniel lives the human-centered development approach. At HITA e.V. the expert supports the board.
